· Notes for Consumers: Avoid Alcoholic drinks and discuss your drug regimen with your health care provider prior to any surgeries or procedures. Although Dexmedetomidine and Alcohol can interact to increase drowsiness and sedation, Dexmedetomidine is only used in a hospital or clinic.

· Notes for Professionals: Due to the anesthetic effects of dexmedetomidine, concurrent use with other CNS depressants, such as ethanol, could result in additive sedative effects and possibly prolong recovery from anesthesia.
